Owens Corning demonstrates builder calculator

At PCBC 2006 in San Francisco today my blog sponsor announced that the Owens Corning Builder Energy Solutions Calculator, introduced in January, will be available for downloading off the Internet starting in late July, making the tool available to the entire building industry. The software helps builders determine how to economically increase the energy efficiency of their projects in order to meet the tax credit requirements under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. It also helps customers see savings on their energy bills. Reception to the tool has been strongly positive and it recently won an Honorable Mention in Green Builder magazine's "Best of Show" awards. The Owens Corning Builder Energy Solutions Calculator uses DOE-2 modeling software (one of the industry's most sophisticated building energy analysis programs to predict the energy use and cost for all types of buildings), and uses default labor and materials cost estimates from a variety of sources as baseline information. Builders interested in the calculator who are not attending PCBC should contact their Owens Corning area sales manager or call 1-800-GETPINK.
