Question: What does Owens Corning recommend?

Jerry writes from Ellicott City, Maryland: "An air conditioning contractor was recently telling us about a new product for helping to insulate an attic. It is a thin perforated metallic sheet that lays over the current insulation in the attic. The perforations allow moisture to enter and leave the insulation. I know my windows have a metallic coating and it does greatly help reduce the heat when the sun is directly shining through them in the summer. The material is supposedly space age and can save %20 in energy bills. What does Owens Corning recommend?"

Answer: This is not something Owens Corning manufactures so I have never done an advertisement or commercial for the product. I cannot address another company's product because I have no experience with it. I recommend contacting the manufacturer of that material or looking for independent third-party information online.
